Something to Think About

When Adam and Eve were in the Garden of Eden, God gave them a diet of fruit, nuts, and basically fresh food with water to drink. Daniel and hid friends ate pulse and water and after a short period of time were ten times smarter than those who ate the king’s diet. Even your mom encouraged you to eat fruits and vegetables. Well. A recent study in Circulation, Nov. 2008, studied 10,646 healthy subjects in 52 countries. Researchers identified three dietary patterns: Western { high in meat, fried foods, and salty foods}, Oriental{high in tofu and soy}, and prudent{high in fruits and vegetables}. Individuals whose diets most closely matched the prudent, after adjustments for known cardiovascular risks were made, had a 30% lower risk for MI, myocardial infarction. Those in the highest quartile of the Western diet had a 35% higher risk for acute MI. The Oriental diet did not affect acute MI risk. The Creator, Master Designer, knows what is best for the body. The Bible has the truth. Science is verifying the best way to change the chemistry is to learn how the Creator wants us to live. God loves us the most and only wants us to be happy.
Smoking is a major health problem throughout the world. Now that HWM is reaching out to the world via Internet and television, we must address world problems and smoking is one of them. In China, the world’s leader in production and consumer of tobacco products, smoking was deemed responsible for 673,000 deaths in people 40 or older in 2005.This represents 12.9% of all deaths in men and 3.1% of deaths in women. This is a reminder that we must get the word out of the hazards of smoking. Craig Ammerall has written “BreathWish” to help raise the awareness and give possible solutions. Education is crucial. We must spread the healing power of a love relationship with our Father.
In the Journal of the American College of Cardiology is a study that shows anger and hostility raises the likelihood of cardiovascular events in people with and without cardiovascular disease. The Proverbs gave us this Biblical prescription long ago.
An interesting site on diabetes that has been forwarded to us from a health correspondent in British Colombia is www.mendosa.com/chanedol.html
In closing, we receive a bit of mail from those who are discouraged in their health. Remember, God is not going to give up on you. He created you and loves you more than you can realize. If you turn sincerely to Jesus and have faith in Him alone, then God has adopted you into His family and nothing can change that great truth. Your salvation does not depend on your works but on Jesus and what He did for you. The Bible tells us that “nothing in all creation will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Jesus” [Romans 8:39]. Does this mean God is not concerned about your health? No not at all. God’s will is for you to become more and more like His Son and to follow the truth’s in the owner’s manual, the Bible. God knows what is best for you and wants to teach you how to have the best health because He loves you. Does the world love you? The gospel teaches us to say “no” to ungodliness and worldly desires and to live a life of self control. Let God know that you want to partner with Him this very second to overcome poor health habits. We at HWM will be praying for you. Ask God to remind you often of His love as temptations come and to surround you with others who will encourage and give knowledge on how to care for your body. Just a few thoughts in the month of March.
