The Importance Of Listening

In order to help a patient, it is important that I listen to them. When I listen I can learn. In order to hear God's voice, we must listen. When writing a book, listening to God lead is the most important part of the manuscript. When reading a book to discover truth, listening to God is important.
Back in 2007, a violinist played in the Metro Station in Washington, D. C. one cold morning in January. He played Bach for about 45 minutes. It was estimated that about 2000 people passed by him as he played. One middle age man stopped to listen for a short while. Four minutes later a women threw a dollar bill in the hat without even stopping. Several children wanted to stop and listen, but the parent quickly moved the children along. After 45 minutes of continous playing about 20 people gave money. The musician made $32. No one stopped to listen.
As he finished, no one applauded or even noticed. Joshua Bell, one of the world's greatest violinists had played intricate Bach on a violin worth 3.5 million dollars. Two days before this same musician played in Boston where seats averaged $100. The question I have is, Do we listen? It is evident that at an inapprppriate time in a common place, these individuals did not have the time to recognize one of the most talented musician playing some of the finest music on one of the most beautiful instruments. Is this happening to you? Are you too busy to listen to your Creator?
As you continue to read, take the time to listen. As you live your life be cognizant of the importance of listening. If I were going to deceive the world, I discourage people from listening. Listening shows concern. I would make people too busy to listen to the truths and beauty in the world. This is unfortunately happening all around. God will speak to you if you will listen to his voice.. in the quietness of prayer, the Holy Scriptures, at your work place, in a song, in a smile, through a conversation, in a sunset, in looking at a solitary snow covered tree on a crisp winter day, and yes in reading a book.
