Restaurant Review

My husband brought me to Charlotte for my birthday (and to check out a college for our daughter) last month. He had heard about Luna’s Living Kitchen as a great place to eat for both those who have a plant-based preference and those who don’t.

It is located in the historic south end of Charlotte near the Atherton farmer’s market. The setting includes outdoor seating with great ambiance.

We were there for dinner and had a good variety of selections to choose from. I chose the Fire & Brimstone Burger which was a gluten-free quinoa-millet burger “spiced with chipotle sunflower hummus, onion, cucumber, guacamole and house hot sauce” served on baked multi-grain bread. This was more than delicious and I could eat it everyday! My husband chose the Arugula Harvest Salad which consisted of what I thought was an unusual combination: arugula, red cabbage, root vegetables, avocado, pear, carmelized pecans, pumpkin seeds, raisins, homemade cashew-basil cheese and a maple mustard vinaigrette.
What surprised us was how all the flavors and textures blended together so well. We topped off the meal with the raw Lemon-Berry Cheesecake. The pecan crust was topped with a combination of cashews, coconut, lemon and organic berries. A bit tart but delicious.
I must add that everything was plated very creatively.

I was only sorry that I didn’t get to experience another meal at this place.
