221 South Oak Bistro

221 South Oak Bistro

221 South Oak Bistro isn’t the kind of place I’d eat everyday… it’s more of a special occasion type of restaurant for me, and it’s excellent. I chose to take my wife out to 221 South Oak as we heard they offered a full vegetarian menu. Upon being seated we requested the vegetarian menus and we’re excited to look through a full menu of options. Starters were priced at $10-$12 and all of the entrees were priced at $24… high-end for a vegetarian plate, but the chef knows what she’s doing and my wife and thoroughly enjoyed our meal. We started with the Fried Maitake Mushrooms and the Tomato and Ginger Braised Lentils. For the main course we chose the Summer Squash and Manchego Gratin and the Braised Kale and Eggplant. Everything was delicious and the portions were generous. If you’re in Telluride looking for a special dinner, 221 South Oak Bistro is a great option.

Park & Main, Breckenridge

Park & Main, Breckenridge

On a recent trip to Breckenridge Colorado, my wife and I took out some family and friends for dinner and found a great little restaurant in town. Park & Main is a soup and salad place and has several great options for vegetarians. I started with the hummus plate which had a spicy hummus with some pita bread and lots of fresh-cut cucumbers, carrots, and other veggies. Several of us had the tomato basil soup with salads, one of my friends enjoyed the Roasted Salt & Pepper Sweet Potato Sandwich, but my wife’s Beet Sliders were what everyone was eyeing when the food came out. Her plate included two sliders that had grilled beet on them rather than meat. I’m not a particular fan of the beet, but these little sandwiches were delicious and a great alternative to meat sandwiches. If your ever in Breckenridge looking for some good veg foods, stop in at Park & Main!
